- Steve Ballmer quite pleased with how Windows 7 turned out.
Ballmer told the Microsoft Annual Shareholder Meeting that Windows 7 has been outselling previous versions of Windows, including Windows Vista, by a ratio of two to one. While Ballmer declined to give exact sales numbers he said that the sales were fantastic.

- Brand new computer algorithm actually capable of detecting sarcasm.
...the team scanned 66,000 Amazon.com product reviews, with three different human annotators tagging sentences for sarcasm. The team then identified certain sarcastic patterns that emerged in the reviews and created a classification algorithm that puts each statement into a sarcastic class.
- Microsoft to give Hotmail service a makeover at some point this summer.
...users will encounter a first screen that’s on overview of new messages, sorted into categories, with e-mails from known contacts in the top heap, updates from services like Facebook and Twitter at the bottom, and a bar up top that lets you send a status message.

- Have a peek at some near-final screenshots of the Windows Phone 7 interface.
I find parts of this user interface to be very depressing (granted it's not final but near-final sounds like their pretty close). The data entry screens are bland, colorless, and lifeless. Almost as if you're signing a death warrant on someone when you want to add them as a contact. Not very inviting.
- Microsoft would like you know that Natal will launch this October.
Get your imaginary baseballs and soccer balls (anything imaginary will do really) ready because Project Natal will be available for your beloved Xbox 360 this October. Microsoft hasn't nailed down an exact date that month but they think they'll have that ironed out by the time E3 rolls around.
- FYI, Windows 7 'compatibility checker' currently masquerading as trojan horse virus.
Once a victim has installed the software, criminals can pretty much do whatever they want on the PC, Cosoi said. That could mean installing a keylogger to steal banking credentials or even gaining full access to the hacked system.

- Sony ceases production of floppy disks. In other news, Sony was still making floppy disks.
Most other floppy disk manufacturers had long since pulled out of the market, and Sony itself has already ceased sales to most of its overseas markets. With the release of the iMac in 1998, Apple was the first computer maker to take the plunge and eliminate the floppy completely.

- Palm would just like everyone to know that they would like someone to purchase them.
So now the big question is just who will purchase Palm and for how much. According to the source article HTC, Lenovo ,and RIM have all expressed some kind of interest in being a potential future owner of the currently troubled handset maker.

- Blu-ray discs will soon be capable of holding a whopping 128 gigabytes.
The new BDXL specification describes High Capacity Recordable and Rewritable discs which will write up to 128GB of content on each disc. These are write-once capacities, with the rewritable discs allowing for 100GB of storage.
- Microsoft sends out press invitations for mystery event on April 12.
Microsoft seems to be a little tired of Apple hogging all the spotlight these days. The only information on the invite is something vague about it being 'time to share'. Hold on to your hats and/or excitement - whichever comes first.

- Google acquires Episodic, will be folded into YouTube in the near future.
Episodic, a San Francisco-based start-up founded by Noam Lovinsky and Matias Cudich, describes itself as a 'comprehensive platform for broadcasting live and on-demand video to the web or any web-enabled device.' Episodic announced the acquisition in a blog post Friday.
