Ten things that the iPod generation will unfortunately never experience.Ten things that the iPod generation will unfortunately never experience.

Ah, the lost and forgotten art of the classic mix tape, the effect just doesn't seem to be the same with a burned CD or a USB stick. Also, high speed dubbing added a fun factor of plus one to the overall experience.

For some time Microsoft has tried to muscle onto the iPhone. In August Microsoft app developers made it possible for third-party iPhone app developers to integrate Bing into their offerings by providing a software developers kit (SDK).

You'll see these results when searching specific areas of Bing in areas like nutrition and math. The amount of new data Microsoft gets with this partnership is in the trillions along with a whole slew of neat algorithms as well.

The new home page is tightly integrated with Bing, which should help boost the search engine's market share from its current ten percent or so. It also includes Twitter and Facebook feeds, so that users don't need to leave the page to update status or post a tweet.

A good list of of booster apps that covers everything from ad scrubbing to plugging Hulu into your copy of Windows Media Center. I still rely pretty heavily on iSquint for some quick Mac video conversions.

Daily Grind: Adventurous

Name: Vin (aka mr fixit)
How Vin feels today: Adventurous @ 1:56:00 PM
What Vin really wants today: To fix my household plumbing problems without actually calling in a plumber. Update: fixed one problem and created another as I am a plumbing terror.

Music Stuck in Head: Siamese Cat Song / Lady and the Tramp
Mostly due to the fact that I had to watch this flick multiple times during the course of my three old's bout with the flu. Go on, have a look - it'll be stuck in your head too afterward.

Stuff to do today:

  • Debate whether or not to get flu shot despite being sick with flu-like symptoms last week
  • Previous item is understatement as entire household was sick with flu-like symptons
  • Flu shot = added protection?
  • Consult with nurse before getting said shot
  • Buy more plumbing supplies

You can try Microsoft's implementation here and Google's is somewhere over here. On the Microsoft side, searching for a particular topic brought me to my cousin's Twitter account which was kind of humorous but slightly scary at the same time. Good work, Dan.
