Adobe gives up on trying to get Flash to work on mobile devices.Adobe gives up on trying to get Flash to work on mobile devices.

Our future work with Flash on mobile devices will be focused on enabling Flash developers to package native apps with Adobe AIR for all the major app stores. We will no longer adapt Flash Player for mobile devices to new browser, OS version or device configurations. Some of our source code licensees may opt to continue working on and releasing their own implementations.

A handy tutorial regarding how to make your very own mixtape flash drive.A handy tutorial regarding how to make your very own mixtape flash drive.

Have a couple of old analog cassette tapes in the basement just laying around that you don't know what to do with? Why not bring them into this century's (or last depending on who you ask) technology by adding a hidden flash drive. Think of all the conversation starters this little gem will result in when you bust this out at the local coffee shop.

Adobe to work on speeding up Flash video thanks to new Apple APIs.Adobe to work on speeding up Flash video thanks to new Apple APIs.

In the recent Mac OS X 10.6.3 update, Apple added a Video Decode Acceleration Framework  for accessing H.264 decoding hardware present in the NVIDIA GeForce 9400M, 320M, and GT 330M GPUs. It turns out that this is precisely one of the APIs Adobe was hoping for.

Adobe to sue Apple sometime in the near future regarding recent SDK changes.Adobe to sue Apple sometime in the near future regarding recent SDK changes.

This really shouldn't be a surprise given Apple's recent barring of none-native code on the iPhone and features that Adobe had ready for CS5 in those regards for development. Apparently this was the final straw and not the relentless bashing they've endured for lack of Flash on Apple's various mobile devices.

Support for front-facing camera found hidden within the iPad SDK code.Support for front-facing camera found hidden within the iPad SDK code.

Along with the references to camera in the code, others have even discovered GUI elements that reference it as well. Perhaps there are still some suprises in store for the iPad or maybe this is just for future-proofing version two.

...a source of 'security holes.' He also referred to Flash as dying technology, likening not supporting Flash on the iPad to Apple dropping support for floppy drives, ditching legacy data ports, and replacing CCFL backlighting with LEDs.

Adobe decides to chime in on the iPad's lack of Flash capability.Adobe decides to chime in on the iPad's lack of Flash capability.

The lack of Flash support for the iPad - and, for that matter, for the iPhone and iPod touch as well - is Apple's doing, not Adobe's. Adobe, for its part, has been eager to get Flash onto Apple's handhelds for quite some time.
