George Lucas pulls the plug on Star Wars movie marathon over in Brooklyn.
Organizers claim Lucasfilm's legal stormtroopers fired off a cease-and-desist order just two days before the event. Organizers of the 13-hour screening, which had been slated for the Wicked Monk in Bay Ridge on July 3, promptly called it off. The order cited copyright infringements and added that there was a moratorium on public 'Star Wars' screenings.

Live action Star Wars television series might be hitting the air in 2012.
The show is rumored to be of the hour-long drama variety and may feature very few characters (if any) from the existing Star Wars universe. Sounds good so far. Note to LucasFilm: please follow The Force Unleashed plotline.

George Carlin to get some additional Last Words this November.
Free Press, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, said Tuesday that the comedian's book 'Last Words' will be published in November. Carlin died in June 2008 at age 71 and worked on the book for the last decade of his life. He collaborated on it with author and humorist Tony Hendra.
