Movie title mix-ups through the mixed up eye of Photoshop.Movie title mix-ups through the mixed up eye of Photoshop.

Another fine Photoshop Phriday event from the fine folks/goons over at SomethingAwful. Said mix-ups range from hilarious to the just plain wrong. You have been warned.

Disney lets loose that a Tron animated series is currently in the works.Disney lets loose that a Tron animated series is currently in the works.

Disney has announced that a Tron animated series is currently in development and will probably air soon after the release of the Tron: Legacy sequel. Also of note is that the series will be of the micro variety which means you'll be getting five minute episodes at first to see if you really care enough to watch thirty minute episodes.

Daily Grind: Motivated

Name: Vin (aka springy)
How Vin feels today: Motivated @ 8:55:44 AM
What Vin really wants today: To welcome everyone back into the world of daily grind posting after taking an entire month and a half off. What can I say, it's been a crazy past 45-50 days or so.

Music Stuck in Head: New York City Traffic
Recently I've taken a break from listening to music on my morning commute into the city. These days I'm all about playing Scramble (free app) on the good old iPhone. Passes the time quite nicely.

Stuff to do today:

  • Attempt to post new photo to photoblog at some point today
  • Continue achievement hunting through Ghostbusters: The Video Game for Xbox 360
  • Some of these achievements are just ridiculous
  • Mini review of game: mildly enjoyable, lots of wasted potential, flat voice acting (looking at you Bill Murray)
  • Find time to watch Termination: Salvation
  • Mini review of movie: wasn't all that bad, quite predictable but not overly terrible

Eight of the best unexpected and hilarious cameos from comedy movies.Eight of the best unexpected and hilarious cameos from comedy movies.

Of all the cameos on this list the Vonnegut one has to be my favorite. I have trouble reading (correction - starting) any of his novels without first flashing to this scene. '...and another thing, Vonnegut! I'm gonna stop payment on that check! Hey Kurt, can you read lips?'

A handy tutorial on how to obtain free movie tickets.A handy tutorial on how to obtain free movie tickets.

There are some interesting methods listed here that you can use to try and score some free movie tickets. Some methods may take longer than others (ie becoming a film critic and/or getting a job at said movie theater). Good luck.

Sorry, DVD version of Avatar won't contain any 3-D effects from the theaters.Sorry, DVD version of Avatar won't contain any 3-D effects from the theaters.

FOX would like you to keep going to the theaters to get the full experience of Avatar rather than have it recreated poorly in your living room. Also, Rupert Murdoch would really like to see a sequel.

Weird Al to direct his first feature film for Cartoon Network.Weird Al to direct his first feature film for Cartoon Network.

Not many details yet but congrats to Al on this new gig. Fun fact: two members of my immediate family can still recite the lyrics from 'Dare to be Stupid' from memory. Bonus fact: we are both over the age of thirty.

IMAX wants to make sure they have a plan for life after 'Avatar'.IMAX wants to make sure they have a plan for life after 'Avatar'.

Worried about the future of IMAX? Don't worry, they've got a plan. More theaters, more partnerships and more access to your living room (thanks in part to the 3D channel coming soon from Sony, Discovery and yes, IMAX).

A great visualization with some interesting data as to the kind of Netflix patterns from different metropolitan areas. Everyone seems to love The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Cadillac Records - not so much.

Looks like we'll be seeing John Malkovich versus Peter Parker for Spider-Man 4.Looks like we'll be seeing John Malkovich versus Peter Parker for Spider-Man 4.

Interesting choice of casting for a Spider-Man villian. That is of course, if the movie manages to see the light of day (script and production issues have been plaguing the project according to rumors). Oh well, it can't be any worse than Spider-Man 3... can it?

In a previous post I doubted that Avatar would reach legendary numbers. Well, allow me to now eat my words. Amazingly enough, I still haven't seen this on the big screen yet. I'm still hearing mixed reviews from pals and fellow geeks.

As a geek these quotes are pretty much the standard beginning set of quotes you need to memorize if you wish to actually be labeled as such.  Also, your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries.

This means that when a popular Warner Bros. movie comes out on DVD for sale at your local Target or Best Buy, you must wait another month before you can get it delivered to your door or desktop via Netflix.
